John's journey of growing Whole Foods into a $22 billion company is impressive, but it’s the life lessons so pertinent for entrepreneurs that he shared that really stood out.

He’s shared his top and bottom 5% and the principles behind his success in his new book, The Whole Story.

John believes every business needs a higher purpose beyond making money. “What makes a company successful in the long run is its culture, its purpose, and its values,” he said. Even after facing huge challenges, including four coup attempts within his own company, he stayed focused on his mission to create value for people.

One of his biggest secrets to success? Continuous learning. Without formal business training, John read hundreds of business books. "I’m pretty sure I got an MBA in a year,” he joked. He also highlighted the importance of trust in leadership, sharing, "The more you trust people, the more trust you create.”

He’s also a big believer in breathwork to stay grounded. "Your breath is always there for you—it’s a constant reminder that you are alive and capable of facing whatever comes your way.”

John’s new venture, Love Life, continues his mission to help people live healthier lives—physically, mentally, and spiritually.

John’s story reminds us that resilience, continuous learning, and leading with purpose are the keys to long-term success.
