I haven't used a rotozip for unguided cuts for more than a decade. Oscillating Multitools gave my rotozip a break. Faster, and easier dust control too.

Instructions unclear: I am in jail for vandalizing my neighbors property.

Pretty cool trick with the knife and rotozip. Maybe a vacuum attachment would be necessary at times. If you put all the pressure towards the back of your blade while cutting sheetrock with a razor knife you can get very clean cuts in 1-2 passes. Takes a bit of hard headed practice and goes through blades, but no noise, no dust and a cleaner patch. Depends on the application I guess. Either way keep working with your hands. ☮️

Very well known in drywall. Also better off just using a drywall knife, your gaps won’t be so big

Or... use the box cutter you were already using?

I just use my level make the lines and then cut them out with using my razor knife. That Dremel makes too much mess. Most of my cuts are in people’s homes. Once in a while I use my sawzall to make the cut.

The guys at work argue that it's a wasted step even when I freehand the razor cut. I think it just is cleaner, but then I hear the joint tape is two inches wide and a mile long in 10 minutes, you'll never see that patch. Pre Cutting the hole with also help the bit cut through thick joint compound. I have turned bits red hot from 1/4" thick existing patch work.

Oscillating tool and shop vac makes less dust in my experience. Flat bladed tool will follow a pencil line just perfectly.

Why cut out a square of good drywall? Ive seen a square of new drywall patch cut, ouline of patch square traced around the fist mark in the wall, and then you have a ready patch. But why cut a square of good drywall out the wall?

I think anyone that’s ever done drywall has… why’d you need that cut out though

just use a brand new razor blade and multiple passes around the sides. Will go through much quicker and make much less dust and even fit tighter.
