In South America it's common and normal that we pierce the ears at just a few weeks or months old. BUT it is not OK for the grandparents to do it without asking.

My MIL is from Mexico and asked me when my daughter was a few months old when I was going to pierced her ears because she did her daughters at that age. I told her I was going to wait until she could decide if she wanted to. Guess what she did? Nothing. She she just said “oh ok” and left it at that.

It’s like that episode of FRIENDS, getting your daughter’s ears pierced is a milestone for you and your daughter! It is NOT okay to pierce someone else’s daughter’s ears WITHOUT PERMISSION!!! You could easily sue if you wanted to. I say NTA personally.

So I have a pretty big family, my mom had already had my sis before they got together but my dad raised her as his own then I have 4 brothers and I'm in the middle. When I was 3 my Aunt told my parents she wanted to take me shopping with her. Well she took me to get my ears pierced right after we finished shopping. My parents had no clue that she was taking me to do that because my mom wanted to when I was 6-7 like she did with my sister. They were pissed for the first day but didnt care anymore since I wasn't in pain and could wear cute earrings after they healed up

The PARENTS are supposed to make those decisions. It doesn't matter what the grandparents culture, they are not the responsible for taking care of the baby. I would NEVER l leave them alone with this baby or any future children. You are not ta.

😂😂😂😂 omg I mean I got my daughters ears pierced when she was only a few months old.. my parents did the same.. so i wouldn't be in their shoes. But I would have at least want them to ask. However I'm the mom who is not a stickler about ear piercings.. if my kids want them idc. I wouldn't want them to take my kids without my permission unless my kids can speak for themselves and say they want them or if I choose to take them.. I see why they are mad however it's a bit extreme telling them they have to get their nose pierced s

Omg really I pierced my daughter s ear like at before one year old and now there so happy I did because they don’t remember the pain that didn’t last like a few seconds, I actually cry with them but if my mom would done it I wouldn’t care I would be grateful because you as mother feel the pain more, so the more younger the better that way they don’t remember what happened,so stop making a big deal is so common in Mexico they do this. And my husband is a us citizen and so do I but I’m Mexican. And yes I have more daughters and they all got their ears pierced.

Not only did the parents not ask, they did the exact opposite of what she wanted! She told her parents that she would save the earrings FOR WHEN HER DAUGHTER WAS OLDER, indicating that she did not want to pierce her daughter's ears right now!
