WHAT YOU LOVE DETERMINES WHAT YOU WILL BECOME
People will become what they love. Some love sports, others love sex or porn, some love food, others love power, some love an ungodly spouse more than they love God. We are not to make an idol of anything before God. Many love money and what it can buy for them and will focus on making it, marrying it or connecting themselves to people who have it. The Bible says:
I Timothy 6:10 NKJV
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
If you love yourself more than you love Jesus or helping other people you will become very selfish, proud and focused on your own looks and image and your own pleasure.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 NKJV
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
When you are healed from your own past hurts, forgiven all, repented for your pride and sin and delivered from demons you will focus on loving the eternal things of the Lord and become a true follower of Christ with the fruit of the spirit.
Galatians 5:19-26 NKJV
“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Matthew 7:13-14 NKJV
““Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
