Hi, Julie. Over the years, 1975-2012, I made it to a number of rock, gem & mineral shows in New England: Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York City, Denver, Colorado. Some were local shows put on by rock, gem & mineral clubs in New England, others were much larger shows in NY & CO, bringing in international dealers. Always enjoyed walking around to see the various gem & mineral exhibits and all the dealers with rough, slabs, cabachons, faceted stones, jewelry. Usually went with friends who were also members of rock, gem & mineral clubs of which I was a member also. Way back in the mid-1970's was when I had begun to subscribe to The Lapidary Journal and found out about clubs & shows.
At that time there was No internet, only 3 magazines related to rockhounding & lapidary: The LJ, mentioned above, Rock & Gem and 2 others that ceased publication in the 1980's, I think. There was one other magazine dedicated to minerals & too technical for me without any geology background & too expensive.
