I gotta weigh in on this. This lady is the best Calliope player I ever heard. She has three nice sets organized, and she avoids what I call "the dodo bird" accompaniment in the left hand and plays real harmony. This particular set has some nice diminished 7ths and augmented 6ths (I think). She varries the tempo from piece to piece which makes it interesting. And the glissando at the end and the nice cadence is fantastic! The sight of the pipes during the glissando is really neat!

Thatās absolutely amazing. For some reason Iām fascinated and mildly creeped out by the sound of a calliope but that lady nailed her performance. Having watched a ton of steam calliope videos online I think this is the best Iāve seen. Video quality is excellent, audio is perfect, no jerking of the camera or any other tricks. I donāt think she made a single mistake here. Really amazing.

Gentleman I am going to set the record straight about everything said to hopefully ease the confusion. The American Queen is the only Steam Powered Paddle Wheel Riverboat running at this time. The Delta Queen did loose her exemption from SOLAS in 2008 and she was taken to Chattanooga, Tennessee and operated as a floating hotel. She did suffer some damage from the harsh winter last year but plans have been in the works for some time to bring her back out cruising the rivers. She did not re-open as a hotel after last winter due to the plans of returning her to the rivers. She was purchased in March and has been re located to Louisiana to begin refurbishment to return under steam power in 2016.

I'm 77 and grew up in Covington, Ky. I remember going down to the Ohio fiver on Sundays as a young boy and listening to the sound of that calliope on the Delta Queen. It was kind if magical because the sound of the calliope carried over a long distance. It was a different world then.
