For one you canāt make the kid sell the car. Itās his and his alone. Two itās all legal since it was in the grandpaās will. Three of the kid does sell the car he doesnāt have to split the money. Itās his money. If he wants you to be kind he can share with his sisters and cousins but heās not obligated to. Also he if he sells the car he can use that money for college or to buy himself a more practical car. Op is def the AH here.

"I believe it's a 50's Chevy Bel Air" and then "it's valued at over $70k"
If that's a true estimate of it's value that vehicle was important to the grandfather... OP doesn't care about thw car... I'm actually getting the feeling that OP harbors resentment about the car & it's importance to their father. That's probably why he left it to the grandson. If the 2 of them were close I'm sure they have cherished memories involving the car.
OP would be the AH for trying to pressure their son into selling it... they can't make them do anything.
I feel sorry for the son. He lost someone he was close to and all the family cares about is money. Being 17 Im sure the next year (or however many months) will be hell for him dealing with these jerks trying to get him to sell his grandfather's cherished possession before he turns 18 and he ISN'T a minor anymore

Yta, the car was left to the grandson. Plus this is totally legal since people have left minors literal houses in their wills. To add you canāt force him to sell it. And regarding the equality of this. It doesnāt need to be equal. Cuz he had a better relationship with the grandson rather than the rest if the family and thatās on the family for not trying harder.

A car is much more than a price tag when itās so important to be passed down to a specific member of the family. It isnāt about the money, your making your son sell his granddads prized possession because you see it as profit. Itās was more than that to the grandson I bet, which is probably why granddad knew who would continue his car endeavors instead of see is as payday

If the granddad didnāt give anything to his granddaughters, I would understand being piss, but itās not like he left them out completely. Also why should the son be punished just cause he and the grandad were close.
