The volcano is called Tajumulco. It’s the highest point in Central America. The bus dropped us off there at 6:00 am and hungry dogs were barking at us like “RUN”. There was only one store open - everything else was shuttered - and the owner stared at me like in that movie Get Out. But she said nothing. The guys at the top (with the water) said “hay un pequeño conflicto de territorio- solemente esto mes”. They were so chill about it. They said we could go, but we should go fast. 😂 I guess thanks

Guatemala is only dangerous outside the center (downtown) of the capital and the most popular tourist destinations. It’s not in all the country. I live in Guatemala btw
