That's not an argument. Just because you don't like the consequences of something not existing, it doesn't mean that it must exist. Also, I thinks it's false to say that it's either God exists or total chaos.

A better argument comes from a phenomenological examination of consciousness. Namely the observation that it possesses properties that not only are not found in physical objects, but are completely opposed to them, such as intentionality and a "first person perspective" independent of third person events. It is therefore a logical self-contradiction to suggest that consciousness is reducible to unconscious physical forces, and whatever brings the higher faculties of consciousness into being must itself have those properties to an equal or greater extent.
