Understanding Age Waivers in the Marine Corps

Many individuals over the age of 28 are interested in becoming United States Marines but assume they are ineligible due to age restrictions. However, they may not realize that Congress permits age waivers for applicants up to 35 years old, although the oldest approved waiver I have seen was for a 33-year-old.

These waivers are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and applicants must meet specific criteria, including passing the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test, which involves a 3-mile run, a maximum set of pull-ups, and a maximum plank. Additional paperwork is also required.

If you are considering a career in the Marine Corps but believe you are too old, it is essential to consult with a Marine Corps recruiter to verify your eligibility.

While not all recruiters may be willing to go through the waiver process, finding the right one who recognizes your qualifications can make all the difference.

If you meet the necessary criteria, a dedicated recruiter will submit a waiver on your behalf.

Hopefully this information was helpful

Hey my marine recruiter giving me a hard time I told him I’m ready to go and all I gotta do is take the ASVAB, I study and everything. I stepped into the army office today and they already got me going to meps next week for my ASVAB.

I’m not going to spill my story. All I’m going to say is if you’re going to enlist make sure your contract is giving you something cause every branch is hurting for new blood.

Yes I got wavier! I was 27 when I joined and I turned 28 in boot camp! I had a guy in my platoon who was 33! But like he said you have to be fit! Or you will not be selected! I still workout 🏋️‍♀️ regularly at 60 years old 👍🏋️

Unfortunately cant disagree with that shirt; dad was 99m. He was alcoholic because gramp's MOS was 409; his group therapy was held regularly at the VFW.

I joined at 27, if your gonna do that you better be in the best shape of your life and when you get to the fleet stay in shape, don't get fat, shut your mouth and be open to learn new material. You will get shit on for being older but when do more pull ups and runner faster than these young cats they shut up real quick.
