Sounds like a good way to test to see if the switch in the seat is bad or something else causing the ride to not crank.

I tried this on my old LTH-130... it works!!!! How many times i've had to boost the old girl and was holding the seat to allow me to start it (when it wasn't needed!!!!!!!) Thank you.

All those "Safety Interlock-Outs" simply mean that the general public, every day, are being conditioned that """for your own safety""" the Gubbermint should care for you - cradle to grave.
I'm glad that I got my early mechanical training in a world where common sense and personal responsibility were the cornerstone of personal safety.

My in-laws Ingersoll riding mower had a problem with a bad safety switch somewhere.
When I was trying to diagnose the problem I accidentally bypassed all the safety switches.
Now it starts and runs great!

I had a leaf shredder vacuum, I thought I had trash in the carb. Eventually I found a switch on the front intake which was loose. Tightened the knobs and no more problems.

My Craftsman is the same. The starter will not kick in unless the brake is on and the PTO lever is in the off position. The seat safety switch shuts the engine off if you take your weight off of it when the brake is disengaged a/o the PTO is engaged.
At least that's how mine works. Cheers from NB.

I started my zero turn just yesterday without sitting on it. This works as long as the arms are at brake and then only if the blades are not engaged. It's an older Lawn Boy (Toro) ZT, so maybe the new ones are more finicky.

Son of a gun, worked on the Craftsman ztl7000 zero turn. Not sure if I'll need it but you better believe I'll be starting it like that for no reason here on out just because I can lol.

I followed the wire harness from the seat to the engine and disconnected. Your welcome nomore turning off when a bump comes by 😊
