Q: Why not use Flash Fill?
A: Flash Fill is a fantastic tool and this is a great application for it! However, if you want the table to be "set and forget", or dynamic, setting up a formula is the way to go!
Q: Why did you create the formula outside the table first?
A: The TEXTSPLIT function can split up text based on a separator. For a sentence, the words are separated by a space (" "). This will create a Spilled array with each word in its own cell. Spilled arrays don't work inside Excel Tables!
Q: How did you get just one word at a time?
A: To extract the nth word, wrap TEXTSPLIT in the CHOOSECOLS function. The second argument is where you specify the number of the word you want.
Note: If the sentence has less words that the n you use, there will be an error.
