🚒 Standard operating guidelines (or “pre-determined assignments”) guide the actions of the APPARATUS - the job they are to complete based on some combination of arrival order and unit type.

👨🏻‍🚒 Riding assignments provide members of the company with a plan as to what tools to take, where to go, who to work with, and what to do - to accomplish the assignment of the apparatus.

Having BOTH allows firefighters to anticipate and prepare for their job and get to work quicker on the fireground. And the faster we get to work, the better the outcome.
