I used a heavy duty ruber bungee to keep the lid closed one time. No drilling needed . Just hook ,pull, and hook πŸͺ

How about one cable and three anchor points...one being a hook on top. You will have a triangle that gives you two places the one rope holds down the lid.

Yes and that'll break in like 3 seconds because that plastic is not designed to hold force applied. The better idea would be to do that and then put a backer plate
