As a teenager i cant help but wonder why my parents expect me to do what im told if i cant feel loved and only feel used. They only talk to me when they need me. thats the relationship theyve built, not one of love and respect, but one of necessity. We need each other but beyond basic compassion ive never built a loving bond with my parents, because exactly like she says, its not something you can just make happen.

I'm confused as to why parents have to earn respect from their children? I can understand this if the parents are rude and don't respect their own children. Then parents would have to earn the respect of their children. However, if parents take care of and respect their children, respect should be given, not earned. It's like me having a bad attitude towards strangers because they haven't earned my respect. No, I'm respectful even to strangers.
When my son turned 9 months old, he began to hit me in my face and have an attitude. I was shocked! No one taught him this. He didn't see it, he didn't experience it, nothing. It's true that people are sinful from birth. I began to teach him right from wrong, and showed him good examples of respect. He is 4 years old now. He says please, thank you so much, good job mommy. If I ask him to do something, he says "Sure, why not?" 😄 He is super sweet. Be respectful to your children from when they are very young and they will learn from you.
Maybe I should watch the entire video to understand the context behind this short clip
