The strongest magnetic fields observed in the universe are found around magnetars, which are a type of neutron star. Magnetar magnetic fields can be over a quadrillion (10^15) times stronger than Earth's magnetic field. To put this in perspective, Earth's magnetic field has a strength of about 0.25 to 0.65 Gauss, while a magnetar's field can exceed 10^14 to 10^15 Gauss. The intense magnetic fields of magnetars are responsible for emitting powerful bursts of X-rays and gamma rays.
