Hey Faye, Thank you for the tip. Back in the old days we used Bees Wax on V-Belts squeaking. We held a chunk on the belt while the engine was running and it would usually stop the noise in seconds. A lot of times it would give the belt some break-in time and the noise never came back. So it was long term, or reapply and toss out the belt. ben/ michigan

Just a question I've been a mechanic for about 48 years and I've done the same except with my reasoning the squeak was the underside of the belt because the belt becomes polished over time so my way of thinking was to rough it up on the underside of the belt and the sweek is gone, but by putting the compound on top I'm just wondering about your reasoning. I'm always trying to learn new ways of doing things, and you are very knowledgeable and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank and have a great day π

Put a dab of that on the tip of a screwdriver for a partially stripped screw and increase the grip a thousand percent. Works on sockets too. It has to be water based, however. The little bits of carbide in there bite into the metal.
