I worked with a marine that was at Iwo Jima. He piloted the troop carriers that brought the marines to shore. He had to yell and scream at them to get out of the boat. He said he had a transparent water cooling line running into his engine and it turned red. I asked him do you think you hit a marine backing up? He said no it was probably all the dead Marines in the water bleeding turned the water red. He lived until he was 93 years old. I met him in 1982 when he was 55. He worked 10 years at that company and retired.
