Using a cane to walk puts a crosshair on you…. I hated the on duty spinal damage that left me using a walking cane off and on for years… because that cane singles you out to the predators.

My best friend from high school, age 61, was just targeted by a pickpocket ring in the Chicago Airport. When we got together I explained to him why he is repeatedly targeted and I am not. He has a nice haircut, dresses well, designer clothing, watches, leather carryon, etc...Where I look like a hobo; jeans, boots, old hunting jacket, ball cap, old backpack, and my wallet in my front pocket. Plus, I make eye contact with everyone around me. We both grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, so he used to know better but a lifetime of hard work and financial success has made him look like a soft target. I'm fairly well off, not wealthy like him, but comfortably retired, but I still look blue collar.
