I came from a hard shell Baptist tradition. The Jesus prayer pointed my heart to Orthodoxy. Reading the lives of the saints (St Seraphim of Sarov) I pray the Rosary (150 bead prayer rope) using Seraphims technique. The most important thing is to pray.

The Rosary is commonly said to have been given to St. Dominic to combat the heresies of his time, but there are older attestations of the rosary. There have also been many changes from one age to another and from one country to another on the exact prayers that go into the rosary; what the introductory orayers are, what goes between each decade, and whatnot. Many include a short prayer or meditation on the mysteries while others include an antiphon or verses of a hymn. The only aspect of the rosary which I have found to be always present throughout the ages is the Our Father and ten Hail Marys.
I'm led to believe that what Our Lady revealed to St. Dominic was not the rosary itself, but that particular set of 15 mysteries of the life of our Lord and our Lady, which have to do the heresies of the Albigensians.

Thanks Boyan! No coincidence you released this on the Feast of the Holy Rosary, I'm sure. The Rosary is a beautiful tradition! We just celebrated this feast in the Western Rite (AWRV) where we pray the Dominican form regularly.
