I donāt really think heās a great villain either, but one thing I did like is that he sees everyone as beneath him, he think heās better than everyone because he was the first human and being the first of anything usually leads to a large ego boost.
Side note: why are the first comments bots with ass in there pfp?

I don't really understand how Heaven's supposed to be the "bad guy" of the series when it kicks its own angels out for being evil in Helluva Boss and brings good people from Hell to Heaven on its own without angel interference. Felt really strange having them be represented as the antagonists and kind of made me wonder why they bothered making Adam an evil asshole when he could have worked as a giant stick in the mud who just didn't want to give people a second chance after both his wives betrayed him.
Making him an evil and unrepentant asshole just kind of made the whole "Judgement of Souls" process really confusing.

Yeah, Adam suffers from a lot of the same problems as Helluva Boss, being that he shares traits that every other character has, yet only he's villainized for it. This is where Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel struggle, cause they make nearly everyone into foul mouthed beings and so the "villains" don't stand out. Not to mention that they usually don't have an interesting motive, so they're just either petty a-holes or over the top criminals. I think Adam would've been impactful if he was underhanded and full of backhanded compliments towards Charlie's ideas throughout the season. This would build up his character as someone who has essentially two sides, with his more malicious side coming out with every interaction. It would build up and end with Adam declaring war on Hell, finally revealing his motive being that his "children" are the angels that have been killed and that he wants revenge for what happened to Eve from Lucifer's manipulation. This of course would shatter Charlie's view on her father and have her question the backstory she was told about Hell.

Thatās a problem Iāve with almost all the HB/HH villains. Theyāre just there to be an obstacle or make you sympathize with the protagonist. An interesting villain could reveal an insight, shortcoming, or flaw about the protagonist. The only effective villain (at least in HB season one) was Striker.

Adam is insufferable. Every scene he is in makes me want to rip off my ears for his over the top edgelord personality. Although he had so much potential as an antagonist, his history is directly tied to charlie, it would have been so interesting to see the interactions between a man who lost everything and the descendant of the guy that wrong him. Exploring his anger towards Lucifer and even giving more context on the events. Also, I'm disappointed at how he was used to tell the audience that heaven is bad in the goddamn 1st episode, it gives the impression that redemption isn't possible and makes the season feel pointless, until the finale of course(even with the fact that we still dont know the criteria on how you go to heaven or hell). To me Adam is just an antagonist with no good qualities, someone to blindly hate.

honestly i think adam had a TONS of potentials but they decided to waste them all for absolutely no reason. i honestly would have preffered if he was used more in later seasons instead of wasting his entire character on the really first one. i feel like they could have āshowed the hipocrisy of heavenā in a better way instead of just an one-dimensional jerkass who says fuck penis and shit, many of his trait comes out has abnoxious which make you question ādid the writers even try to be subtle?ā overall i feel like they could have gave him actual motivation and builded up his character thought the series but nuh uh he dies in the first season still being the abnoxious asshole he was which is honestly really sad considering he COULDāVE have been more interesting

Heās actually more interesting when you think about it. Dude has some major trauma and most of his actions have proper reason behind it. He puts up a front and most canāt see past it. Dude says they are doing another extermination because he wants to, but the real reason is because one of the exterminators died. Most of what people have seen is what he wants people to see. He does have many childlike personality traits too, but thatās due to having his development stunted from whatever trauma he has, and itās easy to theorize what all trauma he may have been put through. Lute is the only person he is close to, so thereās that, and itās not even because of his personality. He could have more friends since his soldiers like him, but doesnāt choose to, he only wants to be honest with Lute, and you can tell when he dies and gets to see her one last time.

The dying smile he gives Lute says a lot more about his character than anything the actual writers say.
