I can so relate to this. I couldn't tell you how many times I fell asleep while trying to read a bedtime story to my kids.

poor horse can't tell if she's fighting sleep or getting scared awake when she falls over. My mom used to lie to us saying they only slept standing up, then my sister went to school to become a vet and learned about this.

Thank you for posting this. I dont think many horse people know the importance of proper sleep for horses. Warwick Schiller says the same. Most horses are sleep deprived, especially those in small stalls. Glad you brought this topic up.

I used to know a horse who would rest his head on the wall. Ppl would often bring him big stuffed animals and heโd sleep with them all the time. I also knew a young horse who was big for his age heโd sleep every morning after he ate but he would lay there and stick his head right under the gate it was so strange but he wouldnโt ever get stuck or anything
