"But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" (James 2:20 KJV) "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." (James 2:24 KJV) "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:26 KJV) "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 14:12 KJV)

@paulwise Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Paul tells you what the gospel is, if we believe that, we are saved sir.
Baptism is nowhere mentioned as part of that to be saved. The thief on the cross was saved because he had faith in the finished work of Jesus at his death, no baptism needed. Baptism is an outward sign we do to proclaim an inward work done in us by Christ.
Youāre right, we receive the Holy Spirit when we are born again.
Once again, tongues arenāt mentioned in the gospel given in that 1 Corinthians passage either or in any other gospel passage.
Reading all of scripture in its context is required otherwise we might make one verse contradict another and would then be in gross sin. Peaceš

I believe the concept of faith alone is true because if it was not the story of the good thief would not have occurred simply because he was not capable hanging on the cross of performing any works or anything as some call putting his faith into action, while others do argue that his verbal statement is a work in and of itself and faith being a thought and not an action.. but to James 2:17&18. The aspect of faith and works. An individual would have to have the capability to do so to do any works (i.e. someone in a hospital need unable to move). But to my mind the two concepts cannot be mutually exclusive of one another.

Then whatās to say, that I am justified off of someone elseās account? How is the justification transferred to me? They say by faith, but faith is more than just acknowledgment for when Jesus routed demons the demons even acknowledged him. To make a good faith payment thereās action involved. There must be a receipt of the transaction. Works must be shown otherwise that faith be dead. Lack of works is lack of belief. where there is doubt there no faith. So itās like an on and off switch then? but the Holy Spirit was given to us as a seal to testify and be witness for us in our weakness. Are we changed sometimes and more at other times or all at once or barely any? Is it entirely up to the Lord of how much we change or do we bear the responsibility?

Amen! Great word! Love this teaching. It is not by our works, but the work of Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross is why we are saved!
