I like Romanian. It sounds very nicely. Some say it sounds slavic but as a slavic language native speaker myself, I absolutely disagree. When i first heard it spoken I thought it was some Italian dialect.

This is similar to what is happening in Taiwan at the moment, where the government is pushing for the recognition of a Taiwanese language, when in reality it has 100% mutual intelligibility with Hokkien, a language spoken in Fujian province.
In fact, lots of things there are being desinicised by the DPP, so much so that residents are calling it the 綠色恐怖 or 綠色文革, translating to “Green Cultural Revolution” (Green is the colour of the Taiwan Independence Movement)

The Moldavian SSR was established in 1940. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
