It's so weird when they pick and choose when to listen to trans people. "Oh youre crazy until I find something to misconstrue, now what you say is the word of law!" Give me a break.

The absolute gall of transphobic pundits to make contradicting statements like this back-to-back, in the same breath. Saying that it's in the DSM (Making it a real thing and the one true statement she makes), but immediately following it up with denying its validity (So is it real or not??) And like Lance pointed out, she's spreading the kind of hate that contributes to the suffering of trans people, while also victim blaming the whole time.
No Bret, having to hear all the time about how I'm messed up in the head, not real, how I'm disgusting and a threat to children, among countless other things; *simply for existing in a way that makes me feel happy instead of depressed*; does not make it my fault if the constant spewing of vile hate and misinformation makes the pressure too much and I end up deciding to end it all. It's the fault of people like you for stirring so much false bigotry and encouraging your audience to do the same.

I think the point Harper is making that Bret (or rather her writers) is/are missing is that she is more afraid of hating herself for not transitioning than she is afraid of the transphobes.
It's exactly where I'm at, and why I'm forging ahead, 6 months into transition in rural South Dakota.

I've had exactly 0 negative interactions with trans people. I used to work with a trans man and I knew him before and during his transition so I occasionally misgendered/deadnamed him on accident and he never got offended by it or even bothered to correct me because I would get it right later and he understood that it was a process.
There's a trans woman at the gas station I haunt and she just makes normal conversation and does her job.
My wife works with a trans woman who's lovely to be around.
But I hear nothing but disdain for the trans community, labeling them all as fiends for simply exercising the freedom to be their real selves. All because half of the world doesn't want to accidentally do a gay because someone used to have different equipment before becoming best in slot.
