They are noisy for sure. Live next door to one installed 6 month ago. Now all we hear is a constant droning all through our house. Plus, wait till it has a couple of years wear in the bearings etc. Will be even worse.

"SOME heat pumps ARE faulty". Thanks for the insight. I am not sure what anyone is supposed to do with this information.

Do one now that it’s been installed properly.

I've put in over 100 heat pumps .mostly Fujitsu, and the can make some noise , that thing needs a bearing or something. They make noise in defrost mode . But they are for the most part , quiet. I can prove it .I'll go back to all of the ones I installed, and do a video 😅

My newly installed heat pump is effectively silent. Something wrong with that one!

Everything with a rotor/pump in it is noisy. It's as quiet as the grave where I live. I put a solar inverter in a shed in my back garden and was horrified by how loud the cooling fan was - audible outside the shed. I was just about to apologise to the neighbour as she walked past when her boiler balanced flue started up like a vacuum cleaner on the side of her house. One day none of this stuff will have moving parts.

Like anything else, it depends on what you go for. My Midea unit is 2 years old it's almost completely silent, even in sub zero conditions

I wonder what you think of gas stove or electric cars

Is there something wrong with that or just normal sound

Could air-source heat pumps have their heating air changed passively? Stoves and fires have theirs changed by a chimney - perhaps there's not enough temperature difference cooled air coming off the heat exchanger and ambient? Chimneys - next year's big thing?

Imagine a country filled with those!!

yep they are VERY NOISY.
i have always though its because they are
on the edges of their efficiency curve
and the compressor is struggling
doesnt happen on AC UNITS
which use roughly the same parts

In fairness you should have pointed out that the unit had not been installed on the level and that, consequently, the bearings had gone. (As highlighted in your main vid).

Some of the comments on here are just dumb....
We need to know the make and models and age of noisy units so people avoid them.
Not all heat pumps are noisy and not all YouTube commentators are idiots. But some definitely are.

The cost of installing and maintaining a heatpump for me would far outweigh not having one even at todays high energy costs given I am in my mid 70's and would never recover the costs.

Best to bin all of it from the start, unless you have an in to cheap electric.

What? You just did another video where you talked about the importance of a good install and installer . This has a bad base and it was sinking towards the house . You knew that it was the bearings, and because it was no longer, if ever installed vertical!
Not all installers or installs are the same or have the same outcome! Pick wisely in the beginning...
