it can also be to keep concentration on. Used like a fidget (like for ASD or ADHD for exemple)

I enjoy my jewelry. 💗 I like admiring it and holding it in the ways you mentioned. It's beautiful and meaningful, that's why I bought it

I do it all the time, and with my necklace. I check under my nails too x

I used to wear necklaces and play with the charm a lot absent-mindedly like when I was studying.

I saw myself playing with my ring on a video where I was more or less auditioning. I was excited, nervous and self soothing.

I've always worn a ring on my left hand ring finger. I knew my husband was going to propose when he started playing with that darn ring on my hand all the time. We'd be talking and there he was patting my hand and twisting that ring. Sure enough, he proposed about 2 weeks later if I remember right.

I have ptsd and one of my "de-stressors" I call it, is either twisting my ring or playing with a necklace. I broke a necklace once in an interview 😂. Didn't get that job.

This makes me think ot stemming, or other sensory redirection. Exactly like a fidget spinner. A therapists once told me that a lot of people with bi-polar disorder often wear a lot of rings and bracelets because it sooths us to fiddle/spin/jingle them.

When I see someone not paying full attention whatever as we are interacting it’s what I unconsciously realize and I back out of the moment or conversation. Thanks for giving the impression a name. It’s that something most important is in that persons mind- not interacting w/ me.👍

Thank You
This fellow was feeling the stress and self soothing himself out of guilt. He was a mrderer, he said he was going to take the gloves off concerning our Son and two days later Casey was gone
First rule that I learned in psychology was. Don’t make it personal

I was married 30 years. I’m divorced 5 years. I find myself using my thumb to twist the wedding ring I no
Longer wear. I’ll be glad when that habit goes away. It unnerves me I still look to spin that darn ring I got rid of

I used to do with my wrist watch, back in the old days), or my necklace.

For whatever reason, I only notice men doing this. Most likely because most women have a stone on the face of their ring. But still, even when I’m just wearing my band I hardly ever touch it.

When men do that I think they feel like they’re being strangled and want to release the restriction. 🤷🏻‍
