Who else thought she was just going to drive off at the end with the nozzle still stuck in the car?

As someone who just got their license this year (I’m 18) and finally got to drive alone, I can confirm that just because I’ve watched my parents do it all my life does not mean that I know what I’m doing in the least

Some say she’s still sitting there waiting for the tank to fill up, seeming as how she never started the pump 🤣

The first time I filled my gas tank, an employee came over the gas tank speaker (which I didn’t know existed????) and had to verbally guide me through it 😭 “select the gas before taking the pump sweetie

Grace’s maniacal laugh after she opened the gas lid is way too relatable 💀

My first time, a guy filling up the car next to me noticed and asked if I needed help. I was like "nah, it's okay". He watched me struggle for the next 30 seconds and re-offered to help me, which I accepted. He walked me through it. When I thanked him he said "no problem, I have daughters who just started driving within the past few years." It was the sweetest thing

Omg I got my license when I was 25 (took a while to get over my driving anxiety) and I was SO embarrassed when I tried to fill up my gas for the first time! This guy was just watching me and I was so mortified because I was staring at the pump and literally trying to YouTube a tutorial on my phone. He came up to me and was genuinely so nice and helped me out!

Edit: wow I have a lot of likes and comments on this silly little story lol. My parents didn’t drive and I grew up in a city with reliable public transportation so I didn’t need to know how to drive until I moved away and had to hire someone to teach me. Plus my anxiety stemmed from knowing so many people who got into accidents. Driving can be scary, don’t shame people lol

Omg the first time I ever had to pump my own fuel, I was in my mom’s car and it was one of those pumps where you have to flip the doohickey upwards after removing the nozzle (didn’t know that) so I shamefully went into the shop and asked how to do it and they explained it to me and I still didn’t get it so I drove off, completely humiliated, and ended up running out of fuel a couple of miles down the road and had to wait for someone to stop and help me because cell phones weren’t really a thing yet. I’d like to forget that, thank you

You have validated the amount of anxiety I felt the first time I filled up my car 😂

Having grown up in New Jersey, I still get so excited everytime I have to pump gas. Even years later, it feels like such a novelty! 😂

as someone who grew up in oregon and has always had their gas pumped for them, when i went to washington for a road trip i almost had a mental breakdown trying to figure out how to use the machine myself 😭

as someone who grew up in PA who moved to NJ, I’d say I’m pretty educated on gas pumps.
In NJ it’s illegal
And In Philly it’s not.

My first time filing up I was told get the cheap gas and my first day of driving I put Diesel in a Honda civic… lasted 12 minutes before i unknowingly felt the car stop functioning correctly on the road.
Diesel doesn’t go on regular vehicles. Live and learn
