My first time, a guy filling up the car next to me noticed and asked if I needed help. I was like "nah, it's okay". He watched me struggle for the next 30 seconds and re-offered to help me, which I accepted. He walked me through it. When I thanked him he said "no problem, I have daughters who just started driving within the past few years." It was the sweetest thing

Omg I got my license when I was 25 (took a while to get over my driving anxiety) and I was SO embarrassed when I tried to fill up my gas for the first time! This guy was just watching me and I was so mortified because I was staring at the pump and literally trying to YouTube a tutorial on my phone. He came up to me and was genuinely so nice and helped me out!
Edit: wow I have a lot of likes and comments on this silly little story lol. My parents didn’t drive and I grew up in a city with reliable public transportation so I didn’t need to know how to drive until I moved away and had to hire someone to teach me. Plus my anxiety stemmed from knowing so many people who got into accidents. Driving can be scary, don’t shame people lol

Omg the first time I ever had to pump my own fuel, I was in my mom’s car and it was one of those pumps where you have to flip the doohickey upwards after removing the nozzle (didn’t know that) so I shamefully went into the shop and asked how to do it and they explained it to me and I still didn’t get it so I drove off, completely humiliated, and ended up running out of fuel a couple of miles down the road and had to wait for someone to stop and help me because cell phones weren’t really a thing yet. I’d like to forget that, thank you

Who else thought she was just going to drive off at the end with the nozzle still stuck in the car?
