A cool phenomenon pilots experience is St Elmo’s Fire, the build up and release of static electricity on the cockpit windscreen as the airplane is electrically charged from a nearby thunderstorm. This charge will shock you back into your seat if you touch it! #aviation #avgeek #pilot #pilotlife #military #airforce #navy #army #flight #flying #fly #sky #jet #plane #aircraft #airplane #photo #photography #video #videoviral

I found out about this phenomenon by watching it on a commercial flight of the tip of the prop when i saw it I was obviously visibly concerned because the older guy next to me saw me and looked to see what i saw and he immediately says (injoy it odds are you’ll never see it again) he later explained to me what it was and that he flew cargo for 43 years and saw it once before and that a lot of his colleagues never saw it in there careers. super duper rare

This is the first time I've seen actual footage of St. Elmo's Fire, aside from the one with Emilio Estevez.

Same thing happens while wearing an RF suit while climbing past a live broadcast antenna or while a storm is approaching on tall broadcast towers. It vibrates all around ya. Definitely a strange sensation. ✌🏻
