I have dog allergies but they’re never usually life threatening, just a major inconvenience. I can be all up in a dogs face for hours at a time and be completely fine but once I realize my first symptoms its a downwards spiral until I start feeing better again. I feel like if I just expose myself to a dog for a really long time it might just go away, because I’ve had cats and after a few months my cat allergies started going away. Hope this ends up working out, thanks for the help!

I’ve been with dogs my whole life and and never had allergy problems, then I moved to the US and we had cats where we first lived. I quickly developed allergies to cats dander and then after two years, my cousin bought a dog. It was fine at first but after a few months, I started developing allergies to dogs dander as well. Then it started getting worse. The longer I spend time with her dog, the worse my allergies get. Now I can’t get anywhere near the dog and if his saliva somehow gets on me, my nose would be swollen, congested, irritated, and my eyes would be irritated as well. Sometimes it so hard to fall asleep because I can’t breathe with a congested nose and my chest feels heavy. How is it possible for me to develop allergies when I’ve literally spent my life with dogs?

I don’t think this guy is a real doctor. It’s a common myth we are allergic to the fur but what we are actually allergic to is the proteins in their bodily fluids, saliva, sweat etc (which obviously gets on their fur) but not the fur itself so why would we need to put a tablet of dander under our tongue. Idk maybe that’s just the cheaper way instead of extracting the proteins 🤷♀

I've had allergy for dogs my whole life, but recently I can't be in a room with a dog for more than 5 minutes. I get asthma attack and almost passes out 😢
