Anyway, recently I learned some of the Sicilian language and then went to Sicily and tried to use it there and it was pretty hilarious. On the beautiful island of Sicily people speak Italian but also the related language of Sicilian, which has a bunch of sub-dialects, and so I tried learning the Palermitan dialect which is spoken in the city of Palermo, and then I went to Palermo to try it out on the locals and because most people here speak this language only with family and friends and not in public they were quite surprised to see me speaking. Furthermore I feel like the people who taught me this language were messing with me because I unintentionally ended up learning the slangiest, dirtiest version of this language I could, and so it sparked all kinds of interesting reactions.

I’m American but my ancestors were Sicilian and this makes me really want to learn more about the culture and language. I went 24 years without knowing Sicilians had their own language and they don’t just speak Italian! I was adopted by an Italian man and Irish woman so I have some Italian culture in my life, but he wasn’t Sicilian. This year has been the first year since I became an adult that I’ve been able to be out in the sun this summer, and seeing my skin so tan makes me feel very connected to my roots lol 💜

I've been trying to learn Japanese you and other channels xoa inspired me to do so slightly I hate to say that but my real goal was I've always wanted to travel to Tokyo not just Tokyo all of Japan but I told myself I would never go unless I learn Japanese so if you ever see this comment or anyone else what would be your best advice for someone that is actively trying to translate and learn just even basic Japanese
