babes, the Health Education Council launched public campaigns starting in the 1970’s to warn women of the dangers and to not smoke while pregnant. By the 1980’s there were multiple reports done on the harmful effects of smoking while pregnant, however studies exist that date back even before the 70’s.
This just showed how careless your mom was. Now you’re using her failure of putting the habit down, as your excuse to continue the bad habit.

A family friend of mine smoked while pregnant, weed and cigarettes. I was so disappointed but I was about 15 and she was about 32 so who am I to tell a grown woman what she’s doing is wrong when I’m still a child at the time… child services were already after her about a multitude of other things and now they were threatening to take her baby away when she was born because of the health neglect of smoking while pregnant. Idk how but she smoked the whole time, baby was never taken that I know of, she got her kids out of the foster system. Moved across the country. Found herself a new man. Whatever. Anyway. It baffles me that people are really ok with putting their addiction before the health of their children even with child protective services after them.

My coworker smoked during her pregnancy and the baby was born with a hole in her heart. It was very scary but she is alive and well.
