When we were traveling with my ES cats, my mom kept calling them service animals to the check-in desk and I kept having to correct her 😓

So true! Both my lab and golden always got plenty of what I called "puppytime"! Champ is beautiful! Keep up the good work and playtime with mom buddy! ❤😊

"They're always calm"
Y'all should check on Mr Maple, the guide dog to Paul from Matthew and Paul. He'll certainly change your mind.

Most people don't understand that service dogs need to be high energy to have the drive and stamina to be a service dog!

Thanks for sharing. I’m so glad you have a service dog. Iv always wanted to work at a place and learn to train dogs like theses but I live to far away from any places that do that 😢

I’m going through an application process to hopefully get an autism specialist service dog at the moment, I’m really hopeful that I’ll get through this time around! I have done a ton of research (obviously) but I like hearing from others with service animals because it’s more than just words on a page, you know? You can see the connection and how much they help.

They play too. I’m looking into getting my first service dog for cardiac alert and it feels so overwhelming to even know where to really start

ESAs don't have public access rights, correct. However, under the Fair Housing Act, they do have access rights to all housing. I used to go to a college that didn't allow pets and I was able to have my ESA with me because of the FHA. This generally doesn't apply to temporary housing like hotels, vacation condos, or AirBNBs, unfortunately.

Could you explain what a psychiatric service dog is? And also how do you get the official vest like champ has?

Emotional support animals may have fewer access rights than full service dogs, but as someone with two registered emotional support animals, they DO indeed have quite a bit of extra access rights. Especially when it comes to living spaces and pet deposits. But they are also often allowed in places like hospitals if you have your own room (because of potential allergies in other patients). No hate, it likely depends on the state but that's how it is where i live 😊
