True words. I am guilty of getting impatient at times when they aren't gobbling. I've been busted by turkeys that were coming in silently. The 1st gobbler I ever killed I stayed put in a place where I saw a lot of sign and knew turkeys were there. They wouldn't respond to locator calls and sometimes sometimes not to calls. So I made myself not leave. After about 40 minutes I gave a couple of clucks and a purr on my Lynch World Champion and 3 gobblers up above me opened up. They came straight to me and I sealed the deal on the first one at about 20 steps. Had I left when they at first wouldn't gobble I would've struck out that morning too.

I’m new to turkey hunting. Maybe a year or two. Got my first turkey last year. Do you have a video that shows what to look for when looking for turkey sign?
I’m in the south in GA. It’s hard for me to tell the difference between armodillo scratching/digging and turkey scratching when I walk the woods looking and scouting.

The biggest piece of advice that I could give to a new hunter is learning the psychology of your given subspecies. Learn what makes a turkey a turkey. What does he want to do. Why does he want to do it. What does he need in order to do it. When you can get inside a turkeys head and think like a turkey, you'll be a much more proficient turkey hunter. The biggest birds i have ever taken have all came feom public land that gets hunted hard!Just because he isnt gobbling doesnt mean he isnt looking for you! The absolute best way of doing this, is simply spending time with the birds.starting the end of January start going and walking and tracking. Once you've located a group of birds, go hang with them. Don't take a call or a gun. Go sit and pay attention to the flock dynamics. How they interact with one another etc etc. This formula will single handley kill you more turkeys than all the gear and gimmicks and $250 calls and $1500 shotguns combined!

My little comfortable chair and breaking 40 years old has made me a much more productive turkey hunter. Being able to sit still in a place where I know that birds are has allowed me to hear that one mid morning gobble that I would never have heard and would’ve spooked birds before. That mid morning-noon gobble usually turns into a bad day for Tom.
