You need to learn a second language to properly grok the first, but you'll always be strongly influenced by your first language, so it seems best to start with a really solid language (Python, Swift, Haskell, C# etc) that best matches your way of thinking, and then accumulate languages to the extent that they offer some practical advantage at the time.
