Y2K was a good example...
actually as an engineer for several decades of experience including software development for automated equipment etc, my work was recognized and I was selected as a Y2K auditor - testing equipment for the date and making sure equipment would still run after the year. went to double zero.
and of course we didn't find a lot but I did find just a few weird anomalies.
one manufacturing location had 12 different machines. each machine was about the size of an average car... they were using something called plasma technology and creating an enormous magnetic field to take structural flaws out of engine blocks.
and it was weird that we would do the rollover to the year 2000 and every one of those machines. as soon as you would try to run it, we come up with a fault saying that the residence circuits needed calibration.
of course they were not out of calibration but it did this on every one of those machines and they wouldn't run until they were recalibrated.
And all of these machines had already been certified as Y2K compliant by the company who manufactures these machines.
all they did was set the date back to 1986 when it turned the year 2000 and they all ran fine.
the date wasn't used for any kind of process data or printing the date on anything or whatever so it didn't matter.
but it was just weird that they would not run once the date rolled over to the year 2000.
so it's not like we didn't find anything.
my position required that I went to to Robert Bosch manufacturing facilities all over the United States and there's like a ton of them. there were only a couple other issues even though I was testing thousands of pieces of equipment for almost 2 years prior to YK.

no word of a lie i remember my mother going down to the local chemist to buy toilet roll and they had a promotion going on from ibm to be in a raffle to win a ibm computer in early 1998 in australia well out of all the states selected in australia and all the people that brought that product they selected people out of each state she ended up winning it and at the time australia only was on dial up when the usa was on 1024kb well what happend was our house got broken into from my older teen sisters so called friends that thought its the year 2000 computers are going to take over the planet and at the time it was one of the state of the art computers they ended up destroying it and threw it in a creek but the police got there finger prints dusted from our back window i never saw a new pc untill windows xp near four years later because of the insanity of my sisters so called friends that thought the world was going to end due to us having a computer in our house CRAZY!

The news definitely is messed up. I heard ice agents are at the offices where people go to get citizenship. It’s not true. Everyone there was so warm and kind when I went to one a few weeks ago.

Hopefully everything is okay. I know there are a lot of generous Americans who donate to food pantries. It’s sad businesses don’t want to pay enough to buy food and some people have given up hope looking for work. Some people abuse the system but I think it’s the minority who does that.
