It definitely gives great insight and valuable perspectives. Just be careful to not accept and be limited to the challenges they faced specifically relevant to their personal journey and the environment at that time.
It's important to know your own edge, both personal and environmental.
Good luck!!

I heard this a slightly different way, someone said you need at least two mentors in life. One from the older generation to hear how they handled things that may be relevant to you in the future . But equally important is to have a mentor one generation younger than you to be in conversation with issues that didnt exist in your time but exist for them and that we need to be cognisant of that to do what we can for them

This goes for anything in life and not just those who are 10 years ahead of you. Many cultures believe in the respect and wisdom held by their elders for this reason.
How many times when we were kids or teens did we roll our eyes at something our parents or teachers told us only to see what they told us eventually manifest in our own lives?
Everyone walks their own paths and makes their discoveries that's right for their own life but that involves not dismissing the knowledge of those who are further along in their life path and also history.

Ironically, I’m currently mentoring someone 10 years junior in the career path while actively seeking an escape from the path. While I don’t want to discourage from pursuing this path, I won’t shy away from discussing its downsides, things that I didn’t consider sufficiently before. Having said that, I don’t regret coming down this path, as the experience that I’ve gained in this path allows me to pivot into more enjoyable paths than being stuck at my old job. Tbh, I’d want to go part-time but it’s not possible in my career and in my level, so let’s see where I eventually end up.

Instructions unclear. Now I'm stuck in the future with no way back.
