Game Gear was cool in its day. Wasn’t too expensive and had a decent library. Plus it was in color which for the price was not bad at all. I remember it had a TV tuner which made it a portable TV. Sega always tried cool things with their consoles.

High school friend got a Game Gear, and stupidly let me borrow it the next day at school. Then I stupidly left it on the bus the next morning, and it was never seen again, and my mom had to buy him a new one, ensuring I would never get one myself. Sad times.

I love the game gear, ive repaired at least 20 just with capacitors alone, and some trace jumping repair by soldering capacitor legs on the broken tace, that was due to the corrosive fluid that comes out of the capacitors.
I never had one growing up, nor did I exist, but after taking on the repair project, i became mad in love with it. Very underrated, not as as underrated as the Neo Geo Pocket, but still.
My daily beater one has a light grey RretroSix shell, RetroSix USB C rechargeable batteries, aftermarket Chinese LCD screen, new speaker, new glass lens, and a original carry strap on it.
Been collecting games and peripherals for this little bad boy, its sooo cool 😅

I think i seen one on a local gamestore when i was 4 all i can remember is being red Elmo harness strapped like a dog in public bc i was too energic i wanted to get my little hands on a gameboy....

I still have the Game Gear my parents got me when I was a kid and it still works, I loved it even though for many years I only had three games for it. I didn't play it much on the go because of the battery thing, but it was nice laying on my bed under the covers or in my tent at a KOA campground that happened to have an electrical hookup, playing Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, and Shining Force: Sword of Hajya.
