I never throw out my bacon grease. I strain it and always have a jar in my fridge to fry eggs, make popcorn, add to cornbread, green beans as well as soup beans. Us southern gals know what’s up.

My dad would bring up his growing up time and occasionally I remember things he’d remember. I’m 75! This one regarding bacon grease.
His family would use it instead of butter on bread, boiled potatoes with bacon grease instead of butter, bacon grease to skillet fry leftover cold oatmeal….frying anything in bacon grease was absolutely tasty but especially with over-easy fried eggs with slightly crispy browned egg frilled edges!

Pro Tip: crack the lid a little... just enough to let the steam out , not enough to let the kernels out...to keep the popcorn from getting soggy.

I have been using bacon grease to pop popcorn in since the 1970’s! Look for bags of Black Jewel popcorn kernels at the store and use it. Those two together are heavenly! 😋❤

My dad did this for years. Sometimes he would start out with little pieces of raw bacon that would cook up so the popcorn would have bacon throughout it. He started this 58 years ago. We loved it!
