I've only bought 2 guitars above $2,800 each and yes, it was for pure vanity and to prove myself I could. Needless to say, I've sold both already and will probably never spend that much on a guitar again. There are perfectly awesome guitars out there that play just as good as those at a fraction of the cost. All the rest of my axes cost under $1,000 and I love playing them.

I divide instruments up into "classes"... and sure there is a collectors class... usually very sharp looking with great details. However, if you just want a quality players instrument, there's many great choices that don't hurt your wallet.

My brother just got his Solar S yesterday and honestly for the price it's not bad! He ended up getting the black matte one because that white paint just looks like it's cheapest tier paint that will start fading. I've had that happen even with a 2013 Gibson, it started fading the white ivory into yellow and already in 2017 looked relic, natural relic lol

If I go for a fender strat and I'm paying two grand or more I want it and expect it to be made in the USA or an Ibanez I want It made in Japan, when I was 18 years old I saved for months for a BC Rich Iron bird my 1st new guitar, I got It home and found the sticker Made In Korea and had to return it, I was left traumatized and now I'm a proud Guitar Snob.

The asphalt really accentuate the tonewood and bring it to a whole new sonic level. Very noticable in the enhanced treble range and mid bass boost.
