The abuser knows how to be nice when needed to impress someone.

My parents were dysfunctional. I was the oldest and only girl. I thought the toxicity was Normal love. I have married 3x. First one physically abused me. 2 nd was closet bisexual and 3rd alcoholic narcissist. I finally became exhausted and removed myself out of my marriage. I am learning who the new me is. I left the old me behind. Each day I feel more alive. The weight has been lifted. This will be the best chapter yet. I will be 65 soon. It’s never too late to start over.

Thank you for giving voice to why I’m barricaded in my room, in the dark, drinking, listening for the slightest sound my bf has come home.

Yes. And even mentioning the "a word" sends them into a fit of rage, typically followed by mockery: "You're suggesting I'M abusive??? You're crazy!"
Total denial, but inside they know exactly what they are doing. They just can't believe you have the nerve to attempt to call them out on it. πŸ™„

So true what you said, I'm going through emotional abuse. The lady where I live said everyone in the community says your husband is so nice and helpful. This lady and those in our community don't know that behind closed doors I go through emotional abuse from my husband.

I wish emotional abuse was widely recognized because emotional abuse is scarring and stays with someone. I know because I suffer in silence and no one knows what I'm going through.

Emotional abuse is usually a precursor to other abuses...

Invisible, concealed and so hard to prove to others. The disbelief of others is a additional abuse by proxy and utilised by the abuser who plays at being angelic around them. Nearly,60 years with a sibling and an ex in that time frame, soon to be free. For those caught in this abuse I recommend seeking professional help. A clinical psychologist has more advanced training in mental health. These type of abusers are often close, a relative, partner,a friend perhaps. They are someone you have a relationship with.

You can also be blamed for it. You're not enough of this or that or whatever. And deep inside, you believe it, since that's how you're treated.

Absolutely!! Experienced all of this and the popularity of the person and you end up gaslighting yourself to a degree til you’re out of the situation and relationship. I’m taking back my power, my sovereignty and I do not consent to anyone manipulating , deceiving or gaslighting - lying to me.

It's very clear for me to see it/hear it/feel it. But it's soooo draining having to deal with it with silence. Especially when there's no one to speak with about it. Thanks for this video.

Yes. Get yourself away from these people. Cortisol and stress causes physical brain damage over time. Very dangerous and you don't need permission to protect your mind.
