Unrealistic, unspoken expectations kill so much.

Truth. Be best friends and just expect to be supported. That’s all it takes.

Always look at the person for who they are, not what you want them to be. Something I’m gonna take to heart and live by from now on.

This is amazingly profound. I have seen people fail in marriage for this reason. They expect to live in the honeymoon phase forever. They forget that real marriage is helping each other through the daily BS and then laughing about whatever you can.

Been married for 21 years. So wise. My husband is better than superman, he is real. Superman doesn't actually exist.

Dude he could say anything and to me it’s the most profound thing I’ve ever heard just because of how angelic his voice sounds.

I think it’s still good to discuss with your partner what you want to give each other. How you can work to become each others ideal. As long as you can establish that the ideal cannot be reached but that truly always working towards it, is good enough.
Idk I’m single

When there is mutual infatuation at the beginning of our relationship, oxytocin levels are sky high. We idealize the partner and after the oxytocin comes back down to baseline level in 8 to 16 weeks. In the early stages of infatuation the neuromodulator dopamine also goes through the roof and “cements“ the Superman and superwoman image creating an ideal that can never be matched.

Also most couples never go through struggles together while dating, going from watching movies and hanging out to monthly budgeting and raising kids are very different things

This is soo insightful ..... I never even thought about it like this. But... big but... this is sometimes why relationships can also bring out the best in each other, pushing for better, just for the other person as long as your both stimulated to do that in the same respect.

People prefer illusions instead of assuming reality. Then they wonder why things fall apart when they tried so hard.

The 'magic' depletes, yes.

Only, you are fogetting one important thing. In this silly 'love bombing', it is over too fast. Just like a hook-up.

And often, lacks depth with sex coming in too quickly, friends + family introduced into the equation + very poor listening skills operating.

It is Time, patience, diversity which moulds a relationship. Trust is primordial.

Both would have to contribute to it but not by forcing.

By Love + a wanting to be with each other most of tge Time... Like 3 or 4 days out of a week.

Space is necessary. Hence the Trust.

After the honeymoon phase we have a loooong journey. It's a never-ending quest, really. So I'm thinking we need a companion for it. One that is respectable and respects us.

It’s called hormonal bonding. Most times it disappears Some lasts for life.
