As a 60-year-old Black man, this actually brought me to real tears. I thought our community was doomed by "independent" women, but I see there is a small flicker of Hope with this young lady. We have to teach the next generation the importance of family. There must be no more unwed Black baby mamas, no more Black men going to jail. Teach Your children at a very young age about consequences from the choices they make. Tell your boys that pregnancy is the least of their worries when having unprotected sex. I showed my son when he was 12 years old, some photos from the Mayo clinic of some of the most extreme STDs known to man. I taught him to protect himself by any means necessary when he starts to date. I told him no matter what the girl he's dating says, use a condom. Even if she says she's on birth control, use a condom. Even if she says she doesn't like the way a condom feels,use a condom anyway.
