Even male teachers were afraid to step between girls fighting in high school. Guys would stop fighting. Girls would not.

Female born in 66. Broke three girls noses between middle school and high school. I still hate bullies.

I’m a GenX girl and I’ve been in enough fights (hand throwing fights) to know we meant business, and we knew how to fight.

I legitimately just had this argument last week.

One of my younger coworkers said "With an attitude like that you've never been punched in the face"

The blood left his face when I looked him square in the eye and said "You don't develop this attitude unless you've been punched in the face" in the calmest manner.

I swear, EVERY fight I was in between 5th and 12th grade was a mutual attempt to unalive each other.

Hell I got probation at 12 for kicking my bully in the head while wearing steel toe boots because he had just attempted to smash my head with a cinder block after he ran out of a bush and knocked me off my bike.

We fought for 3 blocks.

We fought with our friends too. With no adults around disagreements happened and so did fights. However later the same day or the next day you were friends again.

The fact that we've survived this long is proof that we're tough enough.

Why do we think we are so tough?
I go to work with sciatica raging, intense head aches, upper back pain. I will work night shifts, evening shift, day shifts. Generation beneath me call in if they have a hang nail. Get doctors notes saying they can't work more than 7 hours🙄.
So yeah we are way tougher

We don't think we're tough. We just KNOW.

I was raised in the middle of a pack of six boys and to this day, I'm still the smallest.
I learned how to fight dirty at an early age and have been known to knock out guys twice my size.
Don't mess with the runt who is also the only girl in the family. We have teeth and aren't afraid to use them.

Growing up, I appreciated the fact that issues were allowed to be "solved" on the playground

That needs to make a comeback. Kids today are so soft that they don’t even know how to throw hands. Good luck kiddies.

Not only did we GenX girls throw hands with other girls, we threw hands with a few boys too. We gave as good as we got.

Three days into first grade I was in the principal's office. I (girl) poked the third grade bully (boy) in the nose with my stick umbrella. He was messing with my third grade brother. No one fought my brother but me. I became great friends with the principal's secretary and the principal would ask my mom how I was doing long after I left high school. Mr. McDade, you are the best! GenX 68

I'll never forget watching my friend get angry. The other girl wasn't noticing that my friend was quietly and casually biting down her fingernails. Some girls back then liked to pull hair and scratch. But my friend had been raised with four brothers. She systematically removes the chance of her nails cutting her own hands. Then she would wail on an opponent with her fists. She was stronger than she looked. Even funnier, was that the opponent that day wised up. She found a way to smooth things over just enough to leave without a fight. My friend was literally spitting nails that the other girl didn't come to her senses sooner. Short nails for no reason.😂 She had been looking forward to releasing some aggression. Now, she had to calm down without throwing any punches. She looked up at me and stopped her grouching mid sentence. She could see me trying so hard not to laugh. She's been gone for more than a decade. I loved her to bits; and I miss her.

Thank you for triggering that memory.

I actually wore a certain outfit every time somebody had threatened to jump me. It consisted of my hair and a ponytail with lots of oils so they couldn't grab it a turtle neck so they couldn't rip my shirt off. And absolutely no earrings.
