Every year my grandpa and I would turn all the boards over on the dock and hammer the nails back through and reuse them over and over and over again for over 30 years. Those were nails. Can’t do that now. This was in Creosote and salt water.

You show any kid coming up in the construction trade now a bag of nails now, theyd laugh at you, they think thats what drills were made for, everythings screwed to the nuts nowadays, when i started in the trade there were no drills as such, it was 6” or 9” nails unless you were working on the second fix.

Probably because back in the days they used old growth trees which are harder wood compared to the soft wood we generally use except the LSL’s that are getting popular 😅
