Nature, she's a mother. 60 years ago, I saw an ice storm bend a bunch of white birch trees but, it didn't kill them. The next spring they were sprouting and trying to grow upwards. My Dad didn't like it so, he cut them all down and we burned them in the fireplace. I get a chuckle from the stonewall "experts" too. Good Luck, Rick

It probably got knocked down when it was young by another dead tree. And then, after the dead tree rotted away, it started growing upwards again as best as it could.

Pappy got drunk one night, me maw kicked him out. He backed his old ford down in the woods to sleep it off and his bumper sliced up that birch but she survived to grow up and stan found it
