Can we install 15A receptacles on a 20A circuit? Sounds like a code violation doesn't it? Let's find out right now.

Just be sure you use 12awg wire to that 20a circuit, regardless of switch or receptacle.

I just watched 10+ videos about this and your video is the only one that explains it so easily. Thank you.

Just make sure you have 12 guage wire if you're going to use a 20 amp breaker,I could see some people possibly changing the breaker on a #14 guage wire because of nuisance tripping just thought it was a valid point

Good info, good video. Being a long ago retired electrician I enjoy seeing these videos. Keeps me thinking. I had forgot (i dont keep an NEC anymore) about these regs. My initial answer was correct but i forgot about multipule 15A outlets on a 20A circuit.

'ello from the County! Loving your vids, I've been completely renovating an OLD house and my biggest mistake was thinking I could live in the damn thing while working on it. You've saved my rear a few times.. Thank you so much!

Makes sense. Had a 15 amp GFCI receptacle break open and it had the horizontal contact for a 20 amp plug. The only difference between the 15A and the 20A model was the plastic front plate.

Its rated for 20 amps as long as the yoke isnt broken between the two receptacles
