One of the 1960s biggest bodybuilding landmarks was this little Santa Monica building, a few blocks from the beach. A few blocks southeast was Vic Tanny's 4th and Broadway basement gym, aka "the Dungeon". Several blocks south of Tanny's, near the pier... the original Muscle Beach. In the early 60s, that little area, had the major beach gym, muscle beach, and Weider's Muscle Beach headquarters, which doubled as a retail store. 1220 Fifth Street is now the Acorn Store. Then, Weider's West Coast Headquarters. Inside, is Dave Draper. With Robert Bootzin, aka Gypsy Boots, of Health Hut, supporting a box of Gypsy Boots Energy Bars. Unclear is whether Dave is eating a Gypsy Bar... or Weider's Insta-Power Quick Energy.
