Morgan Levine is a trailblazing biogerontologist whose research centers on the biological mechanisms of aging and the development of interventions to extend human healthspan. With a Ph.D. in Pathobiology, Levine's work bridges molecular biology, systems biology, and epidemiology to construct detailed models of aging at the cellular and organismal level.

Levine is well-known for her contributions to the development of biomarkers that can predict biological age—measures that are more indicative of an individual's health than chronological age. These biomarkers help identify potential risk factors for age-related diseases long before clinical symptoms emerge.

Currently, Levine holds a faculty position at a major university, where she continues her research while also teaching courses on the biology of aging and lifespan theory. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and collaborates with both academic institutions and private sector companies aiming to develop anti-aging therapies. Additionally, Levine's expertise is frequently sought after at international conferences focused on aging and longevity, making her a prominent voice in the field of gerontology.

A literal biogerontologist with a PHD in Pathobiology shares the results of a study and everybody suddenly knows more than her in the comments. We need more cognitive humility as a society.

Does anyone listen. No fat shaming nor fasting mentioned by her. Just caloric trimming to help in the slowing down aging.

Lots of American elderly people can't afford food, so no problem there.

I heard about this years ago, but it's not what she's saying. Although that might also have an impact. The two main factors are cross bonding and free radicals. Cross bonding occurs with cholesterol and glucose. If there's not excess glucose in your bloodstream the cholesterol can't bond with it and clog arteries. Free radicals are ozone molecules produced in your cells during energy production. They bounce around and can damage your chromosomes. There's a book i didn't read it just heard an interview.

Caloric deficit will negatively affect hormones NATURAL hormone production is the no1 biomarker for how well we age.
A balanced diet with no deficiencies is the bast approach.

How short term a we talking if we’re trying to add years to our life?

@kayskreed

Is she talking about caloric restriction in the context of fasting or intermittent fasting, or non fasting? So if you eat, say, 1800 calories a day with no significant space in between, or in contrast you eat the regular 2000 calories a day in an eight hour window with sixteen hours of fasting between?

@biens14

So you just eat healthy and not more than you need, gotcha.
