This is the difference between someone who knows what they’re doing and someone who doesn’t.

You are absolutely correct Jim. Many of these crankshafts were ground and never had the original plugs pulled out. Good Tech. Have a great day.

This is a perfect example of where youre paying someone for their experience & knowledge, not their time.

I learned all about the flathead Fords back in the seventies and eighties from the old timers when I was a young man. By the 1990,s we were the only machine shop in town that knew anything about flathead Fords.

You remind me of my father, because I was raised by a man exactly like you, vocational wise. And he always told me that Automotive engine rebuilding shop should be as clean as a surgical room. Ours was not close to as clean as a surgery room, but it was very very very clean. In turn, everything that we worked on, went from its present condition to absolutely perfectly clean, I mean 100% absolutely perfectly clean.

One thing I have learned about watching this and Dave’s channels, is I would y trust a rebuilt engine unless I went and visited the rebuilder and saw that they were as diligent. Just too many things that can be done wrong.

Porsche 356/912 cranks are the same way. I've seen a dozen "rebuilt" engines that were wrecked because the crank plugs weren't pulled.

If you are cleaning parts, when you think you got it clean enough. Clean it again.
